While you are watching this amazing feat you have been unaware that another strange creature has been slowly creeping towards you. You hear what sounds like wet rubber scrapping over the timber behind you. At this point you almost don't want to turn around to see what new hideous creature may be stalking you, but you hesitantly begin to turn your head to the right and back. You now can see that there is a large, florescent green, Deersnail like creature gazing at you from the fallen logs behind you. It must have noticed you while you were standing up and watching Shamgarn defeat the Boarnots.
Without warning a sword slashes throw the creatures head and in a blur you see Shamgarn thrust the creature back and away from your location. Stunned you stand motionless as Shamgarn seems to be saying something to you. You shake your head look up into Shamgarns face and begin to make out his words. "Don't touch the mire trail" Shamgarn warns sternly "the Deersnail emits a powerful toxin into its mire trail before it attacks. The toxin will cause you to feel abject terror and dread." Hearing this you wonder if that would be much worse than how you feel now.
Shamgarn grins as he looks you closely in the face. He states sympath-etically "you do not seem to be having a very good go of things this day."
Shamgarn proceeds to lead you to a small clearing that appears to be surrounded by some low lying brush and a few old tree stumps. Shamgarn stops and turns towards you, "So you are a stranger to these woods are you?" he states with a sympathetic tone. "You have found yourself in the Galtarian Forest, the forest itself can be quite pleasant but it has been somewhat over run by Boarnots and those wretched Deersnails of late." Shamgarn continues with a noticeable anxious tone "I was investigating a reported situation involving a rather sizeable contingent of Boarnot solders said to be in this part of the forest, when I saw you being pursued by the three Boarnots you encountered, I do not want to alarm you but I can't stay with you for much longer." Looking deeper still into the darker part of the forest Shamgarn explains that he really must continue his investigation into the Boarnot troop activity. Shamgarn points behind you and stats reassuringly "There is a Hamlet thru there to the east; it lies within the forest about a mile or so from here." As you look toward the direction that Shamgarn is gesturing he continues to say "They are a kind and gentle folk and if you go to their inn the inn keeper will give you some food and a drink, make sure you tell the inn keeper that I, Shamgarn have sent you
to him."
Still confused and out of sorts you try to make some sense of what Shamgarn is saying. You look back towards Shamgarn and realize that he is preparing to leave. You are now faced with the stark reality that you are going to be alone, again, in this strange and foreboding world.
"Farewell for now newcomer!" Shamgarn exclaims, as he turns to continue his quest to stop the vile intentions of the horrid Boarnots. "Remember what I told you," Shamgarn encouragingly states "Oh, and watch for the path that leads to the road that will take you to the Hamlet of Kelvendor."
