The first few words out of your mouth feel awkward and somewhat incoherent but once you start talking you begin to ask the driver about the forest and the town that lies ahead. The driver asks you for your name and you shyly reply. The driver boldly announces that his name is Parlow Montifore. He goes on to say “ I’m a travailing merchant of sorts. I hail from the town of Kelvendor and I travel out on the roads to all the folks that live out and about in the Galtarian Forest.” He pleasantly continues, “ There are several settlements throughout the forest and they depend on merchants such as myself, to bring them all the latest wares from the vendors in Kelvendor.”

Parlow pauses, turns and begins to stare intently off to his left towards the darker part of the forest. You notice the direction that Parlow is looking and begin to peer into the slow passing forest as well. You hope that it is just Parlow being cautious but deep inside, you feel a sense of dread.

Suddenly without looking forward Parlow signals the horse team to hurry their pace. You don’t see anything in the forest that is keeping pace with the cart but you don’t question Parlows actions. Parlow now looking directly ahead states “you need to hold on tight now, I’m going to run team as fast as they can go!”

With both hands, you grab onto the railing that is front of you. You call out “what is going on?” Parlow reassuringly replies “I’m sure it’s nothing but with the Boarnot intrusion into the forest of late, I would rather be safe than eaten.”

  1. You look out into the fast passing forest and catch a glimpse of what you think might be something bad. You call out to Parlow to warn him.
  2. You hesitate, and stand and watch as the couch passes you by.

Without looking into the forest Parlow takes your word that you have indeed spotted trouble. He begins verbally urging the horse team to move at a pace that is as fast as they can achieve. As the cart races down the road, Parlow excitedly states “ we are fast approaching Kelvendor and once there we should be safe.”

The road suddenly takes an unexpected turn to the right and the cart begins to lift up towards the left. You feel Parlow begin to push against your left shoulder and shout “lean into it!” As the cart hurls around the corner with you and Parlow leaning as far out as you can go the cart suddenly bumps up against two well placed trees on the opposite side of the road and as you collide with the trees and the road straitens out the cart tumbles and bumps itself back into a flat and steady course.

You cry out as you crash back into your seat “that was amazingly bad!” Parlow replies excitedly “well at least we are still on all four wheels, although I don’t like the sound the cart is making.” Parlow, now looking forward shouts “hold fast!” as he pulls back on the reigns with all of his might. With the sound of animals groaning and wood on steal the cart comes to a screeching halt. “Oh look, we have arrived.” Parlow states with a certain satisfaction in his voice. “There before you stands the gates to Kelvendor,” continues Parlow proudly, “I have a delivery to make to the Eat and Sleep Inn, I can drop you off there if you like.”

The Gates of Kelvendor
  1. You thankfully accept Parlows offer and ask if knowing Shamgarn would be helpful at the Sleep Inn.
  2. You decide not to accept Parlows offer and politely state that you would like to get off now.
  3. You sit motionless and silent.
  4. After fighting it, you fall asleep out of shear exhaustion.
