Parlow pauses, turns and begins to stare intently off to his left towards the darker part of the forest. You notice the direction that Parlow is looking and begin to peer into the slow passing forest as well. You hope that it is just Parlow being cautious but deep inside, you feel a sense of dread.
Suddenly without looking forward Parlow signals the horse team to hurry their pace. You don’t see anything in the forest that is keeping pace with the cart but you don’t question Parlows actions. Parlow now looking directly ahead states “you need to hold on tight now, I’m going to run team as fast as they can go!”
With both hands, you grab onto the railing that is front of you. You call out “what is going on?” Parlow reassuringly replies “I’m sure it’s nothing but with the Boarnot intrusion into the forest of late, I would rather be safe than eaten.”
The road suddenly takes an unexpected turn to the right and the cart begins to lift up towards the left. You feel Parlow begin to push against your left shoulder and shout “lean into it!” As the cart hurls around the corner with you and Parlow leaning as far out as you can go the cart suddenly bumps up against two well placed trees on the opposite side of the road and as you collide with the trees and the road straitens out the cart tumbles and bumps itself back into a flat and steady course.
You cry out as you crash back into your seat “that was amazingly bad!” Parlow replies excitedly “well at least we are still on all four wheels, although I don’t like the sound the cart is making.” Parlow, now looking forward shouts “hold fast!” as he pulls back on the reigns with all of his might. With the sound of animals groaning and wood on steal the cart comes to a screeching halt. “Oh look, we have arrived.” Parlow states with a certain satisfaction in his voice. “There before you stands the gates to Kelvendor,” continues Parlow proudly, “I have a delivery to make to the Eat and Sleep Inn, I can drop you off there if you like.”
